MINUTES
VILLAGE OF MURDOCK
SEPTEMBER 3, 2024
The Village of Murdock Board of Trustees met on Tuesday September 3, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall.
Roll call as follows; Jake Wilson, Dave Nuss, Michelle Chesnut, Lee Towle, and Clerk were present. Brittany
Cooklin was absent.
The minutes from the previous August meeting were read and Michelle Chesnut motioned to approve, Lee Towle
second the motion with all members voting in favor of.
The following checks were approved for payment: OPPD elect-1699.88; Ashland Disposal Service garb.-  2652.75; Cass Co. RWD#2 939,000 gals-4882.80; Cass Co RWD#2 read met.-274.00; St. of NE PHE Lab water test-15.00; Column Software PBC publishing-94.20; J. Faubion wat oper/miles/postage-309.47; J. Barnes payroll-1086.62; Municipal Supply, Inc wat.main parts-434.90; Lovell Construction wat main repair-2840.00; D. Nuss 2 pallets water reimburse-382.08; NE Rural Water Association dues-200.00; D. Nuss Colorimeter purchase reimburse-707.20; St. of NE Dept of Revenue July sales tax-289.75 (auto withdrawal); St of NE Dept of Revenue Aug. sales tx (auto withdrawal-100.78.
Dan Bornemeier worked on the old well replacing casings and other items needed for restoration. It now will pump 150 gals per minute. Further plans for the well will be discussed at a future meeting.
Water tower painting and maintenance is in the final stages. Disinfection of the interior will take place on September 4th and possible filling to follow.
Second Street project and other repair work including patch material will be re-visited. Jake Wilson will contact Constructors again for pricing.
Michell Chesnut will reach out to Christensen Tree Service once again for an estimate to grind and remove storm damage pile at the school.
Rosetta Story attended the meeting to discuss the street signs that need to be replaced. Inventory for parts will be completed/ordered by Nuss. She will help with the signs and also rebuild old street Christmas decorations in October.
Cass Co. Sheriff Sorensen attended the meeting by Board request to help clarify traffic laws and other Village Coade enforcement procedures. Options were discussed how to best proceed to implement traffic tickets for reoccurring problems due to Murdock’s specific needs. Tickets can be issued by the Village Board and processed through the Village Attorney if necessary. All Murdock ordinances would need to coincide with Sheriff’s Dept. and Cass County Attorney if issued by the Sheriff’s Office to be processed so there is no confusion on laws differing upon town locations.
Dave Nuss will attend one of the mandatory Hazard Mitigation meetings for updating the Hazard Mitigation Plan. Dave Nuss contacted Lovell Construction for routine flushing of the sewer mains on the South Side of Murdock. Lovell Construction. September 23 rd and 24 th have been scheduled for this procedure.
A generator to maintain electrical current to the meter pit was discussed. Options are still being considered as there are more in depth procedures to be followed as Nuss has been investigating the installation guidelines.
The preliminary Budget Hearing was prepared by Dana Cole & Co. LLP and reviewed by Board members.
Michell Chesnut motioned the General Budget and the One and Six Street Plan Hearings be held on September 18 th with the General Budget Hearing starting at 7:00 pm and One and Six Street Hearing to begin and 7:30pm at the Village Hall. Wilson second the motion and it passed unanimously.
There, being no further business, motion was made by Wilson and second by Chesnut that the meeting close and the next regular meeting will reconvene on Tuesday October 1, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Murdock Village Hall and it carried unanimously by RCV.
