MINUTES
VILLAGE OF MURDOCK
APRIL 2, 2024


The Village of Murdock Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall. Roll call as follows; Jake Wilson, Dave Nuss, Michelle Chesnut, Lee Towle, Brittany Cooklin and Clerk were present.

The minutes from the previous March meeting were read and then on a motion made by Chesnut and second by Cooklin were approved by a roll call vote all voting “aye”.

The following bills were approved by the Board members for payment: OPPD electricity-880.82; OPPD Christmas Lights-254.33; Black Hills Energy gas serv.-486.00; Windstream ph/int-463.04; Ashland Disposal garb.serv.-2864.97; Constellation Energy gas serv.-1484.69; Cass Co RWD#2 606,000gals-3151.20; NE Dept. of Revenue Charitable Gaming license renew fee-100.00; Industrial Constrols Systems Inc. wat tower-1377.90; Column Software,PBC publishing-99.22; One Call Concepts dig hotln-5.14; Lovell Excavating camer sewer-450.00; J.Faubion wat oper/postage-181.70; J Barnes-payroll-1187.42; J Barnes copies reimburse-139.42; St of NE PHE Lab wat tst-15.00; St of NE Dept of Revenue 941N form-90.72; United States Treasury 941 form-836.0; Postmaster stamps-136.00; St. of NE Dept of Revenue sales tax-114.55; (auto withdrawal).

Old business of repairing the pump at the old well site was briefly discussed but no further new information has been obtained and again tabled.
Discussion was briefly held concerning Street work that is needing done and on-going Snow removal issues as both were tabled for further discussion after information is obtained.

The water tower painting/maintenance proposals from USG Water Solutions and Viking Industrial Painting. Both were comparable. Michelle Chesnut motioned to accept the USG Water Solutions 10yr painting and maintenance bid of 218,443.00 that will be paid in yearly increments. Brittany Cookling second the motion and it passed with all members voting in favor of.

Ben Madsen attended the meeting to inform the Board of his decision of placement for the dumpsters behind his building with a detailed drawn description of location. The Board gave approval for this. Madsen also addressed the Board concerning the marking of handicap parking stalls in the street. The Board informed him that they will paint the lines.

Ben Madsen requested signatures needed for all the KENO forms that need to be returned to Keno Operator, Scott Zeilinger, Zeilinger Daily Double and then be submitted to the State of NE.

The Sewer Main between Waverly and First Street will first block west of Atlantic will repaired ASAP and the line will be in continual operation during the repair time.

The sewer main line in the alley extending just west of Atlantic St. from Waverly to First Street was inspected by a robotic camera. Approximately 70-90 ft. will need repaired. This work will be done as soon as possible.
Lee Towle motioned for the Board to approve Josiah Graham onto the Murdock Volunteer Fire Department. Cooklin second and all members voted in favor.

There, being no further business, motion was made by Chesnut and second by Wilson that the meeting close and the next regular meeting will reconvene on Tuesday, 7, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Murdock Village Hall and it carried unanimously by RCV.

High School. His activities include football, basketball, and track.

- He has a terrific multi-sport athlete
- He placed 2 nd in the 300 meter hurdles at the 2023 state track meet
- He holds school records in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles
- He will be attending Nebraska Wesleyan next year and joining their track and field
team

2024 NSAA Speech Championships: Best of the Best on Nebraska Public Media

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 4, 2024) – Nebraska’s finest high school orators will take the stage for the “2024 NSAA Speech Championships: Best of the Best” at 2 p.m. CT, Sunday, April 21, on Nebraska Public Media.

Produced at the Lincoln Northwest High School Performing Arts Center in Lincoln, the two-hour program showcases high school students performing their winning state championships speeches. It is hosted by Lincoln media personality D-Wayne Taylor, a high-energy MC, host, DJ, beatboxer and voiceover artist.

The annual Nebraska School Activities Association event was held March 20-22 at Kearney High School and included students from Nebraska schools competing in classes A, B, C1, C2, D1 and D2.
