 Murdock 4th of July!!
This year was bittersweet. People came together to celebrate what it means to be a community. 
But there was one person missing. Dale Vanderford. Let that sink in. Dale passed away from a long fight with cancer on the evening of July 1st. This event would not have been possible without Dale.
Some people think we have done this event every year forever. But I remember when Dale brought back in the 1990s when the tradition had been abandoned for about ten years. 
Dale loved Murdock. He loved the school, the community, the museum, the history, and preserving that history. Monday was a day to not only celebrate the 4th of July but to remember what he brought to this town. 
The bond of community, friendship, and reconnecting. Sometimes it is only time we see some people when they come back to reconnect with friends and family. 
It seems every year there are more and more people that line the streets and come to our little Village of Murdock Nebraska.

It was only fitting that a child was the one who cut the ribbon. Here is to generations of fun on Main Street. There are more plans in the works such as adding picnic benches.

Murdock Historical Museum

Dale loved the museum and was responsible for the Waffleman fundraiser a few weeks ago. I am sure his vision of preserving Murdock's history will remain.
The museum was open for extended hours during the 4th and many people who had never visited and they were thoroughly impressed.
Once a week I am going to highlight a photo of the museum and maybe play some trivia, or give a little-known fact about our town. 
Murdock Lions will be selling Peaches and Pears 
Peach and pear boxes are approximately 20 lbs.
People can either contact Mike Freyer at 402-867-4228 to order them or place an order at the old fire hall during the July 4th parade.

Come to the Elmwood Community Center tonight from 5:00-8:00 for a piece of pie! The Pie Ride is happening in the Bess Streeter Aldrich Park and the Community Center is hosting the pie for sale in the air conditioning! Come and cool off and enjoy some pie!
