Glimpse into Murdock History

Continuing with our new series to the weekly news.

During the 1950s Pastor Heim would document his home visits with parishioners by taking a photo. These are no ordinary photos, but COLOR photographs. In the 1950s this was almost unheard of then. It was cutting edge "technology". Thank you to Ramona Oehlerking for the video/images.

I remember my Grandmother saying no dogs in the house. Farm dogs belong outside. Well, this isn't always the case. Mrs. Henry obviously thinks their dog (a beagle cross) deserves some inside loving. Does anyone know this dog's name?

Comments from the Previous Photo

Thank you to everyone who is sharing the weekly news and sending me messages on how much you enjoy these vintage photos. Many relatives live in other states now and are very pleased and happy to see themselves as kids.

"These "old " pics of families in Murdock in the late 50's - early 60's have been so much fun for me to see also - brings back many memories of many many years past. Pastor Heim took these pictures of everyday family life whenever he visited a member(s) of our Murdock EUB church - but many of us "oldsters" have never seen these particular snapshots
before. The color is wonderful for that long ago."

Remember, reader-submitted photos like this are a reason why the newsletter is interesting. You can send your Murdock photos of events, friends, and family to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

5th & 6th Grade Sunday School

Last week the kids got REALLY into the Plagues inflicted on Egypt. From blood to flies, locusts, and frogs. Frogs everywhere even in your bed!

Sunday Divine Services (with social distancing

1. We offer two divine services:  8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

2. The 10:30 divine service is live-streamed every Sunday via Robin Kuhlman's Facebook Page.

3. We still practice social distancing in the divine services. Because there is plenty of room at each service there is no need to receive a seating assignment from Pastor Kuhlman.

9:15 am - Sunday School for children and adults

10:30 am Divine Service

Here is an excerpt from the January 17th sermon. Here is hoping it resonates with you in your life. If it does, please feel free to visit Trinity Murdock on Sunday.

Philip found his brother Nathaniel and told him about Jesus. Nathaniel is skeptical. “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Nazareth was a no-name hick town that didn’t even exist in the OT.

Like Murdock. Can hardly find it on the map. How could the Messiah spoken of by Moses and the prophets come from a place in the boondocks like Nazareth? Philip doesn’t argue. Instead, he just invites Nathaniel the skeptic: “Come and see.”

You want an evangelism strategy here at Trinity, Murdock? There it is! Just simply invite the people you know to come and see Jesus in the divine service where He speaks His Word of forgiveness and serves us with His Good Friday Body and Blood!

To bring people to Jesus is to bring them to His church, His body. Come and see!

Blessings,
Pastor Kuhlman
