Merry Christmas Murdock Style
Once again Murdock is the place to see the Christmas lights and decorations. Even a simple strand of garland and a bow is festive.
Fences are perfect to string lights. Next week I will do a night tour with all the Christmas lights.
The Christmas trees on main street got a blanket of snow and it looked so much like Christmas.
I love Christmas ornaments. They make me smile. The volunteers did a great job decorating.
I just LOVE Christmas trees. Make sure to come back neck week for more Christmas trees.

Living Nativity Local Tradition
This year it is a drive-through experience, complete with a podcast telling the story of Jesus' birth.
Learn through the animals how they participate, are mentioned in the Bible, and reflect God's creation.
The 3B Homestead Living Nativity is the only event of it's kind in Nebraska, people drive in from all over the state to experience this unique event.

The Murdock Lions Club would like to thank the community for supporting us again this year. Our main fundraiser (Lunch stand on the Fourth) did not happen, but we still managed to complete some of our goals.
In our November meeting each year we decide where to spend the monies that were raised in the year. This year we raised our donation to Cass County Food Bank in the amount of #300. We also donated $100 to the Murdock Fire Dept,. Lions Foundation $100, Outlook Nebraska $100, Leader Dogs $100, and Canine Companions $200.
In addition to these donations, we have pledged money to the community park fund as well as committing to three $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who stand out as community volunteers or do community service.
We also have been involved in the process of getting two students' eyeglasses where help was needed.
The Murdock Lions will once again do eye and hearing tests at theE-M school scheduled in December. This involves an all-day activity with equipment from the Nebraska Lions used for the screenings.
We would like to thank the surrounding communities for participating in our Peach & Pear sales this year. Weeping Water, Louisville, and Elmwood made several purchases which resulted in the most sales ever. We sold 158 boxes of peaches and 31 boxes of pears. We were very busy that day distributing the fruit that comes directly from the Colorado orchard.
Our club will be putting up the town's Christmas trees again this year. This adds to the decorations the Murdock Fire Department also installs.
Our club is small but mighty. Please consider joining us. We meet on the third Monday of each month with a meal and a short meeting. Once again, a very big thank you to all of you who supported us this year.
Glimpse into Murdock History
Continuing with our new series to the weekly news.
During the 1950s Pastor Heim would document his home visits with parishioners by taking a photo. These are no ordinary photos, but COLOR photographs. In the 1950s this was almost unheard of then. It was cutting edge "technology". Thank you to Ramona Oehlerking for the video/images.

The Lofte Community Theatre is canceling their Christmas production of Making Spirits Bright.
But there is some good news! We will be offering the production online, free of charge as our Christmas present to the community. In the week before Christmas we will have detailed information on how to access and view this delightful production from the comfort of your home.
The health and safety of our patrons, volunteers and cast are important to us. Since we can't all gather together at the barn we hope you will enjoy the online presentation
