Murdock Historical Photos
Thank you to John Guehlstorff for the historical photos he found and scanned for our enjoyment.
Below is Lena and Ed, but I don't know who the other person is, nor the name of the dog. Anyone know?

Just look at the car and the fabric covering. That had to be cold in the winter. Don't think the cars then had heat. Wonder if there are still some cars hidden away in old barns around Murdock. That would be an interesting find.
Send names and any story you have of anyone above to
John's Grandpa (Ed) was an avid photographer. He would take photos of any event that went on around Murdock. From family reunions to everyday happenings. When he passed his grandson (John E Guelstorff III) inherited his camera along with his photo processing equipment and all of his negatives. Recently he found some undeveloped negatives of Murdock
If you have historical or interesting photos of Murdock you would like to share please email them to

Elmwood Farmers Market
Last Saturday was the largest Farmers Market ever!!
We had TEN vendors from fresh flowers, dog treats, and fresh guacamole!! Tom Brewer, one of the regulars, brought his dog with him and got some dog treats.

Laura Stock, on the encouragement from her kids, brought beautiful flowers and bouquets.

Moose's Mad Fresh from Lincoln heard about our small market and was pleased with the camaraderie of the vendors and the customers who went MAD over his small-batch guacamole and hummus.
We can always use more vendors. More vendors attract more people. More people mean more vendors, more vendors mean more variety!!
More variety means you can do more of your shopping local instead of the "box" stores.
Join our Facebook group and stay up to date on who will be showcasing their produce, baked goods, and other items. Ask if anyone is bringing eggs, honey, cinnamon rolls.

Bess Streeter Aldrich House Quilt Show
It's not just your grandmother's quilts that you will find. Quiltmaking has come a long way since the early 1900s and there are over 60 quilts on display from bedspreads to wall hangings and artistic piecework.

Many of these tell a story and the patterns have an interesting history.

The volunteers and Aldrich board does an amazing job of decorating each room with period pieces that make every corner of the house a work of art. Mrs. Alrich would be so proud that her legacy is continuing and adding value to the town she loved so much.
