Did you Have a Happy 4th of July?
We didn't have the traditional Murdock parade, but hundreds showed up for the fireworks at the ball field.
Nearly six years ago John Stroy revived the Murdock fireworks display that had been abandoned over 20 years earlier.

I swear they were bigger and better than last year.
People sat in the bleachers, in lawn chairs, and in the backs of their pick up trucks and socialized before the display.
Here is just a small snippet of what you may have missed. The show lasted over 30 minutes and was fantastic.
Thank you for Nick Sampson, Fred Wilson, and Nolan Stroy for helping with over 300 artillery shells during the close to 45-minute show.

To make sure to have this tradition continue you can donate to the Fireworks fund for next year at CornGrowers State Bank in Murdock.
The show is based on the number of donations, so if you want to see this get even bigger next year, stop by the bank and donate generously.

I spent the weekend camping at Louisville SRA and from our campsite, we could see four American flags. Sometimes it's not how far you go to get away, but just the act of getting away.

With a lot of the pools in Omaha and the area closed the beach was packed. But the water was great!
We are so lucky in Cass County to have so many options for entertainment.
Lions Club Peaches & Pears
Another tradition you may have missed it the Lion Club peaches and pear sale. You can still order during the month of July. Don't forget.

Grandpas Woods Open

We have tee times available!

Murdock Historical Photos
Thank you to John Guehlstorff for the historical photos he found and scanned for our enjoyment.
With the heat, this past weekend can you imagine putting up hay the "old fashioned" way? The pitchforks got some heavy usage back in the day.

Wonder who that was standing on top of the haystack. If you know please let me know below.
Send names and any story you have of anyone above to
John's Grandpa (Ed) was an avid photographer. He would take photos of any event that went on around Murdock. From family reunions to everyday happenings. When he passed his grandson (John E Guelstorff III) inherited his camera along with his photo processing equipment and all of his negatives. Recently he found some undeveloped negatives of Murdock
If you have historical or interesting photos of Murdock you would like to share please email them to
Are we getting back to normal?
Our kids now have options of basketball camp, dance class, shopping at Bits and Pieces, swimming at the Weeping Water pool, and even though the Cass County Fair is canceled the 4-H portion is still going to be held in a modified format.
This newsletter is PACKED with updates! It's the longest one I have done in a while and I am happy to do it again. People are getting out again, visiting, traveling, and smiling.

We can always use more vendors. More vendors attract more people. More people mean more vendors, more vendors mean more variety!!
More variety means you can do more of your shopping local instead of the "box" stores.
Join our Facebook group and stay up to date on who will be showcasing their produce, baked goods, and other items. Ask if anyone is bringing eggs, honey, cinnamon rolls.
