Murdock Fall and Halloween Decorations
This week is more wonderful fall decorations and scarecrows.

Fall and Halloween decorating is so MUCH FUN!!
I know this one was posted last week, but I LOVE this photo! Others must like it too as I got an email this week from someone who used to live in the house and it made her feel good to see it so well taken care of.

Here is hoping even more people in Murdock embrace this and decorate their front doors and yards with scarecrows.

Pumpkins are showing up on more porches and doorsteps to greet trick-or-treaters.
I'm going to come around this week to take photos too of even more Halloween decorations. get them ready or even email them to me at

The character and personality of each of these scarecrows is a lot of fun! Thanks, Jackie Barnes for painting them.

They will smile upon the streets of Murdock for many years and who knows, this may make Murdock a tourist attraction during the fall.
If you get fun photos of trick or treaters, or fun photos of Halloween you can also send them to me. Does anyone remember when I dressed as the headless horseman and rode through Murdock on my horse? We even poked our heads up to the window at Bulldogs.
Thank-you to all the volunteers and the Murdock Improvement Team for making this possible!!

The Trinity Sunday school classes decorated their bulletin board with "leave" your worries with Jesus. It is interesting to see what our kids worry about. Makes you think.

Church Bell History and Repair
It is easy to take for granted the sound of the church bell at the beginning of service. It has always been there. Someone is always at the ready to pull on the rope and receive a glorious sound in return.

However, lately pulling on the rope has not been easy, nor as effective. Something was wrong. Church bell experts were brought in to inspect and advise.
This is the first time many, if not most of us have even seen what the bell actually looks like up close. So here are some very interesting photos and diagrams of how a bell actually works and the history.

The Trinity Lutheran Murdock church bell was donated by the women of Trinity Lutheran and installed in 1906.
The bell weighs 1,200 pounds and was cast at the Stuckstede Bell Foundry our of St. Louis.
Over the years age and weather have taken its toll on the bell, the bearings, the bell deck, and the wooden bell wheel. As you can see in the photo below a spoke of the bell wheel is actually broke.

Trinity Lutheran Church loves the sound of the church bell that starts service each Sunday and will be fundraising to repair and restore the bell so it can be enjoyed for many more generations.

A display with more information and photos is located in the church fellowship hall.
This week the theme was "What do you want to leave (LEAF) to Jesus?" What leaves you fearful, worried, and angry. How can you let go, and leave it to God?
Next week I will post our bulletin board of "Leaves"
