Murdock Nebraska News
In the past week, we have experienced 70F weather and snow. The saying "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute and it will change" is certainly true of Nebraska.
Thank goodness my daffodils are snow hearty and didn't seem affected by a little bit of the "white stuff"
Hopefully your gardens that started sprouting were unharmed as well. I'm looking forward to Murdock being ablaze in color in just a few months. Also looking forward to green grass.
Spring brings baseball, softball, and 4-H projects and meetings. People start getting out and about and thinking about spring cleaning, playing in the park, and bike riding.
All of this is news that shows Murdock pride!
These are just a few of the ideas for photos and news. I welcome all photos as contributions. If the church youth group has a community outreach activity send me a note and recognize the youth for contributing.
Please send me news by MONDAY at noon to

NETV Television to Highlight Elmwood-Murdock Quilt Project
Last summer, a producer from NETV videotaped interviews with Maechelle (Mickie) Clements and Kurk Shrader regarding the Cass County barn quilt project.
Several barns around Murdock will be featured.
In March, NETV is going to air a one-hour program called "Patchwork on the Plains". This is a look at the history, family traditions, patriotism and community pride that goes into painted plywood barn quilts.
Mickie had a vision to start the barn quilt project in Nebraska and wanted Cass County to be the first Nebr. county to display them.
It was made possible through the joint efforts of the Elmwood-Murdock FBLA and art students, students and Kurk Shrader.

Junior Vet Camp
For students completing 2nd - 5th grades
The Oxbow Junior Veterinarian Camp is designed especially for children who have a passion for animals and veterinary medicine.
The 4-day camp includes many hands-on activities involving live animals, games and unique crafts.
Campers learn about veterinary tools, x-rays, body systems and functions, and important issues like animal over-population. In addition, they also get to practice activities like real veterinarians perform, including record-keeping and animal health exams.
At the end of camp, they perform a mock surgery, using all that they’ve learned. Campers get their very own set of scrubs and a stethoscope to take home.
Elmwood-Murdock Elementary School (Elmwood, NE) June 5 - 8
I have a special attachment for this camp as I worked at Oxbow Animal Health for many years and this was a project I helped start. Any child who loves animals would love this camp.
For more information and registration visit the Oxbow Academy website.

Hi everyone! Now that the weather has turned colder, the museum sees a drop in visitors.
However, we still have utilities to pay through the cold winter months. Constant temperature and humidity helps preserve items in the museum.
