Thanksgiving at Elmwood C Store

Holiday Extravaganza 2014

The Holiday Extravaganza in Elmwood is this Saturday, November 29th...better known as the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  This event has become a tradition in Elmwood.  It is a day full of activities for everyone starting with a pancake feed and ending with a Starry Knight parade and community dance.  The event is organized by the Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association (EMMA) whose members are local business groups or interested parties.  A lot of time and planning goes into this event and the EMMA newsletter is created by Pat Ervin, Fountain Creek Designworks.  The EMMA Newsletter is now available on the EMMA website.

“Christmas Belles” Kicks off Holiday Season at the Lofte

Manley, NE [November 21, 2014] - The Lofte Community Theatre will usher in the holiday season on Saturday, December 6 with the hilarious family comedy, “Christmas Belles.”  Written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, “Belles” is the story of three squabbling southern sisters trying to pull-off their church's Christmas program.

Poor suffering Frankie is pregnant with twins and weeks past her due date.  Hot-flash suffering Honey Rae is trying to keep the Tabernacle of the Lamb's Christmas program from spiraling out of control and middle-sister, Twink, is in jail for inadvertently setting the town on fire.  Their hilarious holiday journey through a misadventure-filled Christmas Eve is guaranteed to bring joy to your world!  If you saw the Lofte’s first season production, “Dearly Beloved,” you will recognize many of the same colorful characters in this sequel.

Directed by Kevin Colbert, the play features Keri Hogue of Elmwood, Shari Hoelker of Omaha and Wendy Allen of Plattsmouth as the three Futrelle sisters.  The production also showcases the talents of Randy Wallace and Doug Rothgeb of Omaha, Ross Mumford and Ken Snyder of Elmwood, Kirsten Wood and Melinda Mead of Plattsmouth, Betty Colbert of Weeping Water and Alyssa DiPaolo of Lincoln.

“Christmas Belles,” runs December 6, 7, 12-14 and 19-21.  Friday and Saturday night curtain times are 7:30pm.  All Sunday performances are 2pm matinees.  Tickets are $19, but there are special reduced rates for groups of 20 or more.  Call the box office at (402) 234-2553 to make reservations.

HOLIDAY MAIL for HEROES

Okay, you're busy.  It's the holiday season.  Ask your friends to each pick up a box of Christmas cards, put on a pot of coffee, get out the cookies, and sit around the table writing out cards for our military personnel.  This would be a great thing for your club or organization to do, too.  The cards need to be in Lincoln by December 8, so plan to mail them a couple of days before that.  Have fun and help brighten our heroes' holiday season!
