Raeanna Moss, 2014 Elmwood Murdock graduate and daughter of Bill and Jennifer Moss, received the Tom Osborne Opportunity Scholarship.  Recipients of this scholarship had participated in the TeamMates program which Raeanna did for four years while attending Elmwood Murdock High School. The mission of TeamMates is to positively impact the world by inspiring youth to reach their full potential. Each child is paired with a caring adult mentor who meet with them one hour per week. The mentors are volunteers from the community who commit to making a difference in the life of a young person. They give the kids a sense of hope, purpose, and vision. Raeanna’s current mentor is Judy Stroy and the Elmwood-Murdock chapter Coordinator is Keri Hogue.

Last weekend all Tom Osborne Opportunity scholarships winners from around the state of Nebraska were invited to attend the Husker Game where they received the royal treatment.  There were 82 scholarship winners out of 250 applicants.  All mentors, mentees, and coordinators were invited to the Osborne Complex.  Raeanna’s mentor and coordinator were unable to attend so she was accompanied by her very ecstatic mother. Tom Osborne spoke at the presentation ceremony where each student received a college care packet, a TeamMates shirt and Husker shirt.  There was also a presentation on the field before the start of the game.   The group was invited to watch the game and their seats where right behind the players on the sideline. It was reported to be AWESOME!

Hitchcock Based, “Wrong Window” Opens at Lofte

The hilarious Hitchcock-inspired farce, “ Wrong Window!” will open on the Lofte Community Theatre’s stage on October 11.  The script is written by the successful writing team of Van Zandt and Milmore whose other works include “Love, Sex and the I.R.S.,” and “Suitehearts.”

New York couple Marnie and Jeff think their neighbor has killed his wife.  However, the woman’s body soon disappears and the bumbling witnesses sneak into the cross-courtyard apartment to solve the mystery.  In all, there are over 30 script references to the works and characters in Alfred Hitchcock films.  Can you spot them all?

The production is directed by and stars Kevin Colbert as Jeff.  His wife Marnie is played by Brandy Palatas of Papillion.  Rounding out the cast are Scott Pope and Scott Nielsen of Eagle, Melinda Mead of Plattsmouth, John Bell and Ken Patry of Omaha, and Jeff Johnston and Ken Snyder of Elmwood.  Alyssa DiPaolo of Lincoln gives a stunning performance as the dead body.

Performance dates for “Wrong Window!” are October 11, 12, 17-19 and 24-26.  Friday and Saturday curtain times are at 7:30pm.  All Sunday performances are 2pm matinees.  Tickets are $19 and reservations can be made by calling the box office at 402-234-2553.  The Lofte Community Theatre is located just east of Hwy 50 near the town of Manley.

Missing dog

A very scared beautiful female white dog was found on Highway 34 about 2 miles east of Highway 63 on September 26th. She looks like a lab mix with slightly longer hair and a fluffy tail. She has a pink and white collar with no tags. Although she was hesitant at first she quickly warmed up to her rescuer and jumped right into her car. Her rescuer said she looked like she has been on her own for a while. Thanks to the rescuer and a couple of good Samaritans she was turned over to Lincoln Animal Control. If you know this dog or her family please call 402-441-7900.
