Elmwood Murdock High School volleyball girls will play on Thursday 11-10-2011 at 12:30 vs. Lutheran High NE at Hastings High School.
Elmwood Murdock will NOT have school on Thursday 11-10-2011 so students and patrons can attend the game. (if they win the team will play in Grand Island on Friday at 6:30. School will dismiss early, 1:30 for the elementary and 1:45 for the jr/sr high school.)

Salute to Veterans at the Lofte
The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley will be hosting a Salute to Veterans concert on Sunday, November 13 at 2pm. This event is free and open to the public.
The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band, The Noteables, is the squadron's dynamic "little big band." This sleek, vibrant jazz ensemble presents exciting, uplifting music inspiring audiences to increased patriotism. The group also shares stirring accounts of the bravery and self-sacrifice of our expeditionary Airmen serving around the globe. The Noteables have appeared in concert and on national television with Bob Hope, jazz trumpeter Bobby Shew, composer/arranger Frank Mantooth, former Tonight Show band leader Doc Severinsen, pop singer Lee Greenwood and trombonist Wycliffe Gordon.
The Noteables honorably represent more than 325,000 Air Force professionals around the world who diligently watch over the skies protecting and defending all those who cherish freedom. We hope you afford us the opportunity to share the messages of excellence, sacrifice, courage and commitment of our brave men and women...the deployed Airmen of the United States Air Force.
The Lofte is located just east of the intersection of Hwy 1 and Hwy 50 in cass County. The Weeping Water Color Guard from American Legion Post #237 will present our nation's colors. The concert will last approximately one hour. Everyone is invited to bring their favorite Veteran, friends and family to this special patriotic event.
Old Avoca - Nebraska Schoolhouse
Greenblatt & Seay and Friends will be performing an original, zany, musical version of "Bremen Town Musicians". This ancient tale, collected by the Brothers Grimm, tell the story of four aging animal: (a dog, a cat, a donkey, and a rooster), and how they found each other (after being discarded by their owners for being too old), and decided to form a band. This family-friendly version features clever narration, lively vocals, and the added textures of guitar, harmonica, 5-string viola, and some suprises. Join in on the fun on Sunday, November 13, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse, in Avoca, Nebraska. The performance will be followed by refreshments, and the opportunity to have a jam session with the cast of "Bremen Town Musicians". Elmwood Library Has Fun Times Planned!
Every first and third Monday of the month (November 7 and 21), Elmwood Public Library holds Preschool Storytime for children 5 and under. From 10-10:30 a.m., a library staff member reads stories, leads kids in songs and fingerplays on a specific theme. Our themes for November are: Food and Manners.
Every second and fourth Monday of the month (November 14 and 28), Elmwood Public Library holds Sleepytime stories for children 8 and under. From 7-7:30 p.m., a library staff member reads stories, leads kids in songs and fingerplays on a specific theme. Our themes for November are: Teddy bears and Night-time.
On Monday, November 14, at 5:30 p.m., Elmwood Public Library will have a guest speaker doing a program called "Hands On Herps." Pam will bring in snakes and other critters to share some interesting information about them.





PRAY FOR CHANGE
Miss Taylor Kupke is a freshman at Elmwood Murdock, daughter of ? and Renee Kupke, and granddaughter of Wayne and ? Kupke of rural Murdock. She decided that she wanted to make a difference and do something she is passionate about...helping people. So she started Pray for Change. This is an organization that collects clothing and distributes it to people in need. The Elmwood Murdock FCCLA and Trinity Lutheran Church is helping Taylor. She has also enlisted the help of Lamarr Womble. Lamarr first came to Elmwood Murdock a few years ago as a motivational speaker. And boy, has he motivated! Lamarr is an admissions counselor at UNO by day and a motivational speaker all the time. His organization is called Passion 4 Leadership, or P4L for short.
P4L's mission is to deliver a message that empowers students to develop and prepare personally and professionally to live and lead with passion by keeping reality and the future in mind through workshops and motivational communications. Lamarr keeps in touch with the kids via facebook and he encourages Taylor in her dream.
