Manley, NE [July 5, 2011] - The Lofte Community Theatre announces that its summer musical, "Annie," will open Friday, July 22, 2011.   

“Annie” is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. Soon Annie befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a loveable mutt named Sandy.

Ellie Swanson of Lincoln stars in the title role.  Kris Raasch (also of Lincoln) plays he cantankerous Oliver Warbucks.  Anna Stroebel of Omaha plays the conniving Miss Hannigan.  Players from the Elmwood-Murdock area include Keri and Rylee Hogue, Ross Mumford, Lizzy Pegler, Christine Schmitt, Katie Schmitt, Cody Brown, Luke Ervin, Jeff Johnston, Wade Mumford, Tim Sorensen and Aaron Spracklin.  The production is directed by Lofte Artistic Director, Kevin Colbert. 

Performance dates are July 22-24, 28-31 and August 4-7.  Curtain times are 7:30pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  Sundays are 2pm matinees.  Tickets for adults are $18.  Children under the age of 12 are only $10.

LOCAL GRADUATES FROM HARVARD UNIVERSITY – BOSTON, MA Colt Stander of rural Murdock graduated from Harvard Business School in Boston, MA earning a Masters of Business Administration, the day before his 26th birthday.  Colt had earned his undergraduate degree in 2007 in Industrial Design at Purdue University of West Lafayette, IN.  Colt is a 2003 graduate of Elmwood-Murdock High School.  He is the son of Gary and Tycha Stander of rural Murdock and the grandson of Cliff “Pete” and Suzanne Stander of rural Murdock and Preston “Buster” and the late Marge Vosler of Ashland.  Colt is now living and working in San Francisco, CA with the Palo Alto Research Center as an Innovation and Marketing Manager while he also helps several entrepreneurial teams launch their products.
