Elmwood held its 125th Birthday Celebration last Saturday. There were several Murdock residents participating in the activities. They were very well represented in the 10K and 1 mile run/walk.
This is the 1 mile race/walk group.
Thomas Hynes completed the race and was barely breathing hard. 10K is about 6.2 miles.
Kevin Hynes followed the youngest Hynes son across the finish line after a 1 mile jaunt. Michael didn't run the whole way..in fact he rode on Dad's shoulders for a bit.
Kalee and Tom Brewer of Wabash ran the 1 mile together.
Well, maybe not totally together but they started together! Tom stopped along the way to help someone...probably Michael.
Tammy Lockman and Lisa Hynes didn't stop at the finish line. They continued to walk all over town after the official race!
Mason Ritnour had no problem with the 1 mile run. His brother, Gary was somewhere around, too.
Julie and Tony Synovec were on hand to cheer Kylie on to the end.
Brad Josoff helped by keeping Hayzel happy. Shannon helped Heather Bornemeier organize the race. The ladies did a spectacular job! Everyone had a great time...even in the rain. The winner of the 10K was also the oldest participant. He finished 10 minutes ahead of anyone else but had to go back and find his dog. He must have been distracted...maybe by Michael. Who knows!
The 4th Street Market has flower arrangements on hand and they can be specially ordered and delivered for you. And they are very reasonably priced, too!
Kalee spotted this one and had to have it for her mom.
There were activities at the library for the kids, too. They colored birthday cakes and made birthday cake crowns.
They had to cut the crowns and glue the candles on.
Tyler Jones helped Library Director, Cindy Mumford with the frosting of the cupcakes.
At the Heartland Flooring Center Sherryl Vogt was too busy for pictures! She was assisting customers all day with their flooring needs. It was a big sale! Hope you took advantage of that!
Sherryl carries a line of carpet that no one else in the state has!
Cindy Hovorka hosted an open house at her new salon on main street, Your Thairapist.
The remodeling done to the building was completed by Advanced Contracting LLC.
Cindy has two stations so she can have coloring at one and cutting at the other.
Two trees were donated by Marie Gregoire and Tom Burtch for the Elmwood Park. A dedication ceremony was held.
Lou Allgayer, Village Board member, was the driving force behind the 125th Birthday Celebration. He had an amazing team supporting him.
Tyler Jones and Jordan Bowman represented the FBLA. They have a time capsule full of timely itms that will be sealed and opened in 25 years.
Alyssa Brown and Megan Schmale helped serve the food in the park.
It was a very nice turn out. They served well over 200 people.
Dan Brown smoked the 75 lbs of pork from the Elmwood Meat Plant for the occasion. This must be Dan's dad because he claimed to have nothing to do with the smoking but he looks suspiciously like Dan.
Jacquelyn tries to figure out one of the minute to win it games. They were a hit!
The hula hooping contest kept the kids moving.
The petting zoo was a big hit, too. There were ponies, pigs, birds, bunnies, a cat, and even a guinea pig.
