Obituary of Arthur Emil Bornemeier

April 1950

Arthur Emil Bornemeier, son of Henry and Wilhelmine Bornemeier, was born in Wabash, Aug. 3, 1889. He died April 3 at his home in Lincoln, at the age of 60. Mr. Bornemeier, who spent all his earlier life on a farm near Murdock, moved to Lincoln in 1920. He married Grace Wittorf on June 16, 1921 in Lincoln.

Mr. Bornemeier, who was a member of the Callahan Evangelical United Bretheren church near Murdock, later transferred his membership to the Calvary church in Lincoln.

He served as a steward on the Calvary church council of administration and at the time of his death represented the church on the board of directors of the People’s City Mission. He represented the church at its annual conference.

Mr. Bornemeier and his wife helped to rear a nephew, Buster Bornemeier, and two nieces, Jean Mason (now Mrs. Charles Adams), and Shirley Mason (now Mrs. Fred Hill).

Surviving, besides his wife, Grace M., are a sister, Mrs. Mathilde Veach of Lincoln, and four brothers, Gustav and Martin of Lincoln, Paul of Elmwood, and Ernest of Portland, Oregon.

Preceding Mr. Bornemeier in death were a sister, Mrs. Minnie Brakhage; two half sisters, Mrs. Amalia Riechman and Mrs. Lizzie Meieryurgen, and two half brothers, Henry and Charles Bornemeier, all of Murdock

The Heartland Flooring Center in Elmwood is located on the main drag. Sherryl Vogt bought the business 5 years ago from Mike & Chris DiPaolo. Prior to buying the business she had worked for them for 15 years. Heartland Flooring Center sells all types of flooring: carpet, tile, vinyl, laminate, and wood & cork. They also have remnants available. Sherryl has been remodeling and revamping the store so it is easy to see her samples.
Sherryl is planning a big sale for the Elmwood 125th Birthday Celebration this Saturday. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the prices are slashed! Come in, shop, and pick your new flooring. They will measure and figure out how much you will need and payment will be due upon receipt of invoice. Sherryl can arrange for Mike DiPaolo to be the installer.
Saturday shoppers may register to win 5x8 area rug.
