Murdock Open House
Murdock and Elmwood both had an open house ceremony for the new schools. They explained what was done in the school and let the community walk around.

NUTRINOTES:
Wondering what the new item on the menu is for Wednesday, November 25th is? The Southwest Chicken Panini Pocket is a stuffed grilled sandwich that is filled with mozzarella cheese, chicken and sauce. The sauce is made of a southwest style ranch sauce with a little chili powder and cheddar cheese.
We hope the students have been enjoying the new items that we have been introducing to the menus along with tried and true favorites. We always welcome constructive comments from the students regarding their lunches and breakfasts. We really like to know what they enjoy and what maybe needs to be improved or changed.
The Elmwood-Murdock Foodservice staff would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season!

“BOOKS ON PARADE” FAMILY READING NIGHT
Elmwood-Murdock Public Schools presents..."Books on Parade"- Family Reading Night On Monday evening, November 30, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Children in Pre K (3 and 4 year olds) through 3rd grade along with their parents are invited to attend the Elmwood-Murdock Family Reading Night at the Elementary School. Children may dress as a favorite story book character and will be able to hear books read by special guest readers. They will do a short activity following the reading of the story. We also hope to have a book exchange. Families may bring gently read books to exchange with other families' books. So begin now to sort through those books that are no longer being read at your house. Continue to watch for further details about the family reading night in the Knightly News and in flyers that come home from school in your child's backpack or the school website http://www.elm.esu3.org/.
Don’t forget to choose the book you want to hear on family reading night. Look for the book choices in your child’s Friday folder. If you have any additional questions, please, feel free to call the school at 994-2125.
SON SHINE CHILD CARE CENTER TO HOST LUNCH
Son Shine Child Care Center will be hosting a lunch from 11:30-1:00 on Sunday, November 22nd at the Elmwood St. Paul United Methodist Church. This is a Free Will Donation. Come join us for a great meal and social time. Thanks for your support!
ELMWOOD HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA IS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28th.
There are many events for kids and parents. See full details and schedule at www.elmur.org, or at local merchants.
The kids activities include; A coloring contest page has been included in all Friday folders. Drop the page off by noon on Saturday to the Library, and the winners will be drawn at the skating rink at 6:30pm.
A kids holiday workshop at 10 am at the library with stories, arts & crafts, songs, games and snacks. This is free and guaranteed holiday fun!
Santa comes to the firewall at 2pm. A photographer will be available!
The movie "Up" will show at 3pm at the Methodist Church.
A light parade follows the tree lighting at the park.
Kids or groups that want to be in the parade can come to the firehall to decorate in the afternoon. - Check the back of your color page for details and go to www.elmur.org for decorating ideas.
Knight Gear
Knight gear orders are being accepted all year. If you would like to order customized knight gear contact Debbie at a Personal Touch or stop by the store, located at the old dance studio in Elmwood. Orders need to be in by December 4th if you are planning on get something for a Christmas present. Debbie is planning on having a table set up at all home basketball games so people can place an order. They are working with the Athletic department which helps raise money for there needs. The best time to contact Debbie is after 3p.m. at the store. Also on November 28th A Personal Touch will be open from 9a.m. to 4p.m. There will be lots of different items and a lot of different hand crafted items by local people.
I’ll never look at a pumpkin pie the same way again…
Elementary Kids Night at the Rink
It was a big night at the rink Friday. About 74 kids and parents showed up to help raise money for the Elementary school. There was skating, dancing, and dodgeball. And lots of laughing and giggling...especially when Mr. Friedrichs was skating!
Mr. Friedrich holds his own among all those kids!
The Cupid Shuffle is a dance that everyone can do.

H1N1 Clinic Alert!

WHAT: An additional supply of H1N1 vaccine has arrived and the Sarpy/Cass Department of Health and Wellness will be holding a public vaccination clinic for those who are most at risk for complications from H1N1 and who are within the geographical area of the school listed below.
WHO SHOULD GET VACCINATED? For this public clinic, five target groups have been identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP): pregnant women, persons who live with or provide care for infants younger than 6 months, health care and emergency medical services personnel with direct patient contact, children and young adults aged 6 months through 24 years, and persons aged 25 through 64 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications. We ask people who are not in one of these groups to be patient and allow people most at risk for complications from H1N1 influenza to get vaccinated first. After the CDC ships enough vaccine to states to serve the at-risk individuals in our counties, the vaccine will be made available to those in Sarpy and Cass counties who want it. The Health Department advises those attending the clinics to wear short sleeves under sweatshirts and jackets.
