Knights Football

Lots of excitement for the Elmwood-Murdock Community last weekend!
Both towns come out to the see the Knights play every Friday night home game. This last Friday they really got a treat with the Booster Club fundraiser meal, the introduction of the Little League football players, and a live performance during half-time by the Cheer camp participants!

The Knights won against D.C. West and are now 4 and 0

Myrna Bornemeier and Nicki Justesen display their “Split the Pot” paraphernalia. Their hard work along with Julie and Kent Zimmerman, and Julie Andersen brought the pot to $580.00! That’s the largest pot I’ve ever heard of! Rose Vogler had the winning ticket that won her $290.00.

The Booster Club Tailgate was also a huge success. They were all sold out of everything but a few desserts.

Beginning of Fall-September 22
Fall is here. The weather we’ve been having is evidence. I’m sure the Elmwood-Murdock students are very grateful for the 60, 70, and 80 degree temperature versus the previous 90’s we recently experienced.
The shorter days also verify the changing season. Nights are starting around 8 pm rather than the much enjoyed 9:00 and even 9:15 summer evenings.
“The first day of fall, or the “Autumnal Equinox” for 2008, falls (no pun intended) on Monday, September 22nd. (and for those who can never get enough information, or are Jeopardy Junkies, it occurs at 11:44:16 EDT)” taken from www.twilightearth.com
Changing colors of the leaves and harvest will soon be here.
Hit, set, attack!

HATS ON DAY
September is Children’s Cancer Awareness Month. To honor this, the student council has decided to hold a Hats On Day! This is scheduled for Friday, September 26. Our plan is much like what we have done in the past. The students will pay 50 cents to wear a hat on Friday. We will begin collecting money on Tuesday and we will challenge the classes to raise as much money as possible for the Foundation for Children with Cancer. Whichever class raises the most money will get to choose a teacher or staff member to kiss a Goat!! As an added bonus-if the school raises $1000, Mr. Friedrich has agreed to kiss the goat and if the school raises $2,000 Mr. Novak has agreed to kiss the goat.
As in the past, there will be prizes awarded to the best hats. The categories this year are the oldest hat, the longest hat, the silliest hat, the widest hat, and the hat with the most signatures on it. I would like the student council to come to your classes on Monday morning to introduce this project and answer any questions your students may have.

Childbirth at 65
With all the new technology regarding fertility recently, a 65-year-old friend of mine was able to give birth. When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, I went to visit.
'May I see the new baby?' I asked
'Not yet,' She said 'I'll make coffee and we can visit for a while first.'
Thirty minutes had passed, and I asked, 'May I see the new baby now?'
'No, not yet,' She said.
After another few minutes had elapsed, I asked again, 'May I see the baby now?'
'No, not yet,' replied my friend.
Growing very impatient, I asked, 'Well, when can I see the baby?'
'WHEN HE CRIES!' she told me. 'WHEN HE CRIES?' I demanded. 'Why do I have to wait until he CRIES?'
'BECAUSE I FORGOT WHERE I PUT HIM, O.K.?!!'
