WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING (sent in by Linda Andersen)
A message every adult should read because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing, and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good, and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be
When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say, Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'

Everyone get acclimated to the new school year last week?
I shared this with you all last year, but it was so good I thought I'd share it again:
Did everyone survive the “going back to school” routine? Waking up early, doctor, dentist, and eye appointments; trying to get that summer vacation in; shopping-purchasing new shoes, book bags, school supplies, sports paraphernalia, etc. Anyone have the growth spurts we experienced here at our household? I think between the three kids we grew between six and eight clothes sizes!!
How ‘bout those with children (I guess at this point, they're not really children any more) who are going off to college for the first time or going back to college? Any of you experience ‘that feeling' that sits right there in the bottom of your heart?
Or, those of you who sent off your little one to their very first day of school? That might bring a tear of two to the eye… but not from the kindergartener J
I know some have transitioned into the ‘no more elementary kids' phase. All nervous at the 7th grade orientation as they moved onto the junior/senior high school.
There might be some of you who couldn't wait for the day to get here! What a relief to get into a regular routine and not have siblings arguing or listening to that famous, “I'm bored” one more time, huh?
Any of your parents tell you things like: “enjoy them now; they'll be gone before you know it”? Or, when they've just started kindergarten: “they'll be graduating high school soon”, or “next thing you know, they'll be off to college”. Sometimes parents are right! It's amazing how life changes and the seasons that we go through. The end of summer has made me think about it just a little bit more.
This poem was in our church bulletin this last Sunday. Thought I'd share it with you:
School Is Starting
See the yellow school bus
Coming down the read,
Stopping here and stopping there,
Picking up its load.
See the saddened mother
Blinking back a tear,
Condemned to peace and quiet,
For another long school year.

School pictures this week! Thursday K-6 th grade at Elmwood. Friday 7-12 th at Murdock
Carnegie Hall… Here we come!

Mrs. Colbert is solidifying plans for performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The Elmwood-Murdock Choir has earned the amazing opportunity because Dr. William Wyman Director at Wesleyan University has been invited to conduct and he recommended the Elmwood-Murdock choir to sing under his direction. Elmwood-Murdock will be joining other choirs for a total of approximately 150 members. This trip will take place May 20-24, 2009. Watch for ways you can help contribute to this amazing privilege. Most of the $2,000.00 cost will fall to the choir member so fundraisers will be used to help with some of the expense.

The Local BUILD Group has supported the WireLess Louisville initiative for about 18 months.
The idea here is to attract folks that value free broadband access to visit Louisville, for a Burger, or a Haircut or Art, and receive this free convenience.
We organized businesses to provide this in an organized way, and then we set out to Market It
This Monday, the Omaha World Herald published an article, that is supportive of Louisville's effort.

Funny
This 80 year old woman was arrested for shop lifting. When she went before the judge in Florida he asked her, 'What did you steal?' She replied, 'A can of peaches.' The judge then asked her why she had stolen the can of peaches and she replied that she was hungry. The judge then asked her how many peaches were in the can. She replied, '6.' The judge said, 'Then I will give you 6 days in jail.' Before the judge could actually pronounce the punishment, the woman's husband spoke up and asked the judge if he could say something. The judge said, 'What is it?' The husband said, 'She also stole a can of peas.'
