What’s Happening Around Our Community

Lyndsey Hrabik went to Girls State the first week of June in Lincoln and Marcus Winter went to Boys State.
The Legion and Auxiliary groups (they sponsored both of them and were from Murdock and Elmwood) had a potluck on Thursday eve June 19 at the Elmwood Community Center where Lyndsey and Marcus talked to the group and told them about their week and what they learned.
Thanks to Colleen Winter for sending in this information!

What a BEEEAUUTIFUL day it was for a parade!

The Fourth of July Celebration in Murdock was GRAND! I was not able to get a lot of pictures as I had a hurt foot, but here are a few of the parade:

Nancy Leutchens waves to Marcus and Lyndsey who competed at State last June.

Here comes the Red, White, and Blue!

A parade just isn’t a parade without the band! Directed by Michael Hansen and Dale Vanderford. Drum Major, Jon Luetchens, lead the band in “America the Beautiful” and the Elmwood-Murdock Knights school song, “We are Loyal to you Illinois”. FANTASTIC job! The band attended band camp the Tuesday and Thursday prior to the parade.

Mallory Buck is “Miss Murdock 2008”

Shannon Fries of the Murdock Volunteer Fire Department is welcomed as he throws refreshing ice pops out to the crowd. Praying a refreshing will also come back to Shannon.

The Knights proudly display their Class C2 State Basketball Championship trophy. Congratulations Team!

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birrrrrthday dear Dad! Happy Birthday to you!!!

Crusaders Gospel Band at St. Paul UMC, Elmwood on July 27th
A news release for your consideration! Thank you!
Forty-four Year Crusade

Singing groups come and go but not the Crusaders. This gospel group has been singing together for forty-four years -- the same four people -- and they are coming to Elmwood.

As teenagers in the mid-60s, the Crusaders grew to be one of the Midwest's best-known gospel groups. In the 70s they started traveling full-time sharing the stage with other nationally known southern gospel groups, like the Blackwood Brothers and Stamps Quartet. Today, because of their powerful presentation and the resurgence in popularity of gospel music, their music and message is in its greatest demand.

Their unique blend of praise and worship songs and southern gospel music appeals to all ages. The Crusaders will be presenting a concert at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 400 West G Street, Elmwood, NE on July 27th, at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge, but a free will offering will be taken.
