Inspiration
Live simply. Love generously.
Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God.
"Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.
The way you cope with it is what makes the difference."
"If God is for us, who can be against us?"
(Romans 8:31)
This was written By Regina Brett of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio, sent in by Julie Schmale. THANKS Julie!
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written".
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile!
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else!
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift. "

I encourage all of you to make use of the Free Classified Ads.
This is a classic example of "the more it gets used, the more useful it becomes"
It is fun to browse and notice your neighbor, selling what they bought last year at your garage sale.
It is also, a benefit that allows folks to turn unused items to cash - all the ads have been made "Google - able" so you get great visibility for your old weed whacker.
Newsletter subscriptions are Free, and that is a great deal at twice the price!
Prairie Rim Plants
I drove by Prairie Rim Plants last week. It looks like Sharon is getting prepared! Sharon Kunz and her helpers have been operating the Prairie Rim Plants since 1982. She started with plants and flowers and in the last 10 years she has operated on a larger scale. You can find almost every plant you want for your yard and garden. Sharon buys her flowers from various nurseries around Nebraska and Missouri. If you can’t find what you want she can probably order it for you! Just ask her! For more information call Sharon at 402-994-4895.

Building Project Update
The school is in need of new or used plastic storage containers with lids to be used during the building construction for teachers to store materials. These containers will be returned when the building construction is finished. If you have one you would like to allow the school to use, please either drop it off at the Elementary or High School, or you can call the school at 402-867-2341.
Attention Patrons - The Elmwood-Murdock Booster Club now has a new batch of stadium seats for sale. The cost is $40.00. Stop by the high school office or call us at 867-2341 for more information. Baseball/softball session is here & those bleachers are mighty hard!
Attention Senior Parents - Please be advised the last day of school for seniors has been changed from Wednesday, May 6, 2009 to Friday, May 1, 2009. The seniors were told if they misbehaved or were not passing all of their classes they would be expected to stay in school until the original date of Wednesday, May 6th. This would be determined on an individual basis first and as group second. As always if you have questions you may call Mr. Allemang at 867-2341 or email him at tallemang@esu3.org
Attention Booster Club Members - The next Booster Club meeting will be Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the high school and will be located in the Long Distance Learning room. We are asking for anyone's help with setting up decorations on Friday, April 24th for the Athletic Banquet. The set up time is 2:30 p.m. and we will be located in the high school old gym. Please call the school at 867-2341 for questions.

Tidbit
Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play. His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.
On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement. 'Guess what, Mom, 'he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me...... 'I've been chosen to clap and cheer.'
Thank You Elmwood-Murdock Teachers!!!
I thought this was appropriate with the end of the school year coming. Make sure to thank your children’s teachers!!!
What a shame that the U.S. (and especially the media) fails to give teachers the respect (and money) that they so richly deserve.
The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.
One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with
education. He argued, 'What's a kid going to learn
from someone who decided his best option in life was to
become a teacher?'
He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about
teachers: 'Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.'
To stress his point he said to another guest;
'You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?'
Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness
replied, 'You want to know what I make? (She paused
for a second, then began...)
'Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought
they could.
I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor winner.
I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their
parents can't make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game
Cube or movie rental.
You want to know what I make?' (She paused again and
looked at each and every person at the table.)
I make kids wonder.
I make them question.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them have respect and take responsibility for their
actions.
I teach them to write and then I make them write.
Keyboarding isn't everything. I make them read, read, read.
I make them show all their work in math. They use their God-given brain, not the man-made calculator.
I make my students from other countries learn everything
they need to know about English while preserving their
unique cultural identity. I make my classroom a place where all my students feel
safe.
I make my students stand, placing their hand over their
heart to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, One
Nation Under God, because we live in the United States of
America.
Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts
they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts,
they can succeed in life.
(Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)
'Then, when people try to judge me by what I make,
with my knowing money isn't everything, I can hold my
head up high and pay no attention because they are
ignorant... You want to know what I make?
I MAKE A DIFFERENCE. What do you make Mr. CEO?'
